leyio-is-your-data-mate-01s1
Some people say they have a memory like an elephant, while others, on the other hand, confess they have a lousy memory that has never helped them when they most needed. There are a couple of years since I started to be less preoccupied by the amount of information my brain stored deep inside and I have to admit that I’m more relaxed right now, as I don’t feel overwhelmed by all sorts of things that I have to remember.

leyio-is-your-data-mate-01

So what I’m trying to do is to keep in mind only the important stuff and leave anything else behind. Another solution would be to find a second brain to use when I need extra space for the data that I run into on a regular basis, such as documents, music, photos and so on. And this is where Leyio has something to say.

leyio-is-your-data-mate-02

“Flexing 16GB of onboard flash, it’s roomy enough to accommodate thousands of pictures or songs or PowerPoint Presentations or… However, where Leyio departs from your traditional memory devices is in its ability to share. Using Ultra-Wideband radio technology, two Leyios can transfer files between each other at a startling rate of up to 10MB per second. Simply pair them, select the file you wish to share and then transmit the data from one to the other, with a flick of the wrist.”

If, for example, the person whom you want to send some files to don’t have a Leyio of their own, you should know there’s a USB port placed on the side. Not to mention the fact that the Leyio has an integrated 2GB USB “Shuttle” that is built in the casing. Other features include a 1.5 inches OLED screen with 65k colors and a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, , a biometric thumbprint detector, a 90mAh Lithium Polymer Li-Po 3.7V battery with an autonomy of 30 days.

Available in three different colors, ice grey, mirror and pink, the Leyio is currently being sold at Firebox for £129.95.

Viper-powered Mustang - Click above to watch the video after the jump

We love Ford Mustangs of all shapes and sizes, and the age-old adage of “the more power the better” definitely applies. Scott Vanderschoor, a regular on Bang Shift forums, is working on one hell of a pony car; one that carries the panache of a ‘Stang and the power of a Dodge Viper - with a pair of turbochargers providing a little additional motivation. Unsurprisingly, Vanderschoor reportedly needed to move back the firewall a half foot to make room for the massive 8.4L V10 engine, but we’re guessing the labor will pay off with some absolutely incredible power numbers.

Hit the jump
to see Vanderschoor’s big beast as it turns over on camera for the first time. The sound is a bit different than you’d expect from a typical Mustang V8 growl and we’re guessing that it has a little more oomph under the hood than most pony cars on the road - even before Vanderschoor tuning gets sorted out. This is one Mustang project we’re looking forward to seeing more of! Check out the gallery below in addition to the video after the jump. Thanks for the tip, Brian L!

EMTEC G Box Ion-powered Nettop

EMTEC presents the G Box, a new nettop with NVIDIA’s Ion graphics chipset to compete with Asus’s Eee Box. The nettop is equipped with the Ion graphics chipset, and a 160GB hard drive. There’s no mention on the processor, but I bet it will be an Atom.

EMTEC G Box Ion-powered Nettop ports

Though comes with Ion, the G Box has no HDMI port. It runs Windows XP. The price will be about GBP179.

The iPhone Dev Team may have held off on releasing their ultrasn0w iPhone 3GS jailbreaking and unlocking tool, but that hasn’t stopped long-time Apple hacker George Hotz.  He’s released a tool called purplera1n which, while not unlocking the iPhone 3GS, does at least jailbreak it so that unofficial third-party apps can be installed.

iPhone 3G S r3media 2 r3media 480x336

The tool, currently only available for Windows users, can be used to jailbreak iPhone 3GS models running OS 3.0 (users hoping to unlock or jailbreak their handsets are advised not to upgrade to 3.1) and seems a relatively straightforward process.  Still, it’s in beta and you’re advised to back up your handset before attempting it; Apple are unlikely to look kindly on any warranty repairs should they discover your iPhone 3GS was bricked during an unofficial mod.

Hotz also prompts some disagreement with the tactics that the iPhone Dev Team are using regarding their own ultrasn0w unlock/jailbreak.  They decided not to address the iPhone 3GS until OS 3.1 is generally released, so that Apple won’t have time to close off the loophole their app takes advantage of.  Hotz, though, feels differently about the “cat and mouse” chase that has been going on between Apple and hackers since the original iPhone was launched:

“Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn’t worth waiting because you might have the “last” hole in the iPhone. What last hole…this isn’t golf. I’ll find a new one next week. Also your purplera1nyday files ensure that you can always get back to a jailbroken state, so if you have it it’s just a matter of tools.” George Hotz

Well it’s not incoming number portability but it’s better than nothing… While the Google Voice team continues to battle through a massive back log of customers itching for their invites, a nifty new feature popped up today for current Google Voice users. Love the service but hate your number? Well now you can change it on the Phones tab under Settings. There is a one-time fee of to change your number but it’s a small price to pay. If you need help picking a new Google Voice number, there’s even a great little number picker tool that lets you type out words and try to snag their corresponding phone numbers. The best part — your old number stays active for 90 days so you don’t have to go crazy hitting all your contacts with your new contact info in a rush. Sweet!

When people choose to buy an all-touch handset, they have forfeited the idea of feeling physical keys under their fingertips. So I guess it makes sense that Apple wants to bring back the “feeling” of keys to iPhone, and most likely iPod Touch, users but is it a priority?haptic-feedback1

Apple would slap a bunch of actuators across the iPhone’s screen. Then, as you slide your finger around the screen, you’d be able to “feel” the different area of the screen. The top half is more bumpy, while the bottom half smooth as silk.

Other than an interesting technological curiosity, I don’t see this improvement as practical. Practical would be enabling the iPhone to multitask now that the handset can finally capture video and has a better camera that can auto-focus. There were also a karaoke app and fingerprint identification patent mentions, so maybe Apple just files these patents as if to say, “We were here first!” Instead of making them any kind of a priority, or at least, we can hope.

If Namco Bandai didn’t have an issue with splattering milk on characters for simulation role-playing-game Queen’s Blade Spiral Chaos, than these promotional cards should pose zero problems.

These promo cards are available at Japanese retailers like Sofmap and Gamers and features illustrations from famed artists. They also feature boobs. You know, boobs?

Queen’s Blade is originally a Lost Worlds style “combat picture book game” and has been published in Japan for the last couple of years. Queen’s Blade features only female characters, and its spin-off series Queen’s Gate has showcased the likes of Iroha (Samurai Shodow), Mai Shiranui (The King of Fighters) and Dizzy (Guilty Gear).

Queen’s Blade has also been spun off into an anime and the upcoming PSP game Queen’s Blade Spiral Chaos, which will be released December 17 in Japan.

waterless-air-cooler-02s
The summer is here and the weather is intolerably hot, even if, here in my country, we have enjoyed daily torrential rains, at approximately the same hour, as if it were the equatorial climate in here. I’m not a specialist, so I won’t bother looking for possible explanations, but it’s kind of weird.

waterless-air-cooler-02

The point is the weather is so damn hot, or at least this is what everyone says, because I’m one of the lucky human beings that feel as comfortable as possible at 30+ Celsius degrees.

However, for all of you out there who just can’t stand the high temperatures, here you have something to give you a helping hand: the waterless Air Cooler Plus, which is different from any other air cooler you might have seen before. And do you know why? Because, as I said, it’s waterless, which means the Air Cooler PLUS is able to provide “effective cooling in even the muggiest humidity”.

This way, there won’t be an excess of humidity to be added to the room. In addition, there’s a patent-pending waterless cooling chamber that is part of the design of this device and inside of it there are two advanced frozen gel packs that are both stuffed with advanced HD-Ice™. Another important feature consists of the fan that has a variable speed and is very efficient as far as the energy is concerned.

This waterless air cooler is available for shipment and you can order it online at WaterlessAirCooler for 9.
