Whether or not you appreciate Apple’s approach to software, App Store management or secrecy, most people will agree that their industrial design is something special.  Transparent House, a US design company keen to show off their 3D rendering skills, have taken that love of the Apple aesthetic as a prompt to create a video showcase of some of the more eye-catching or influential devices in Apple’s history.

“Transparent House used its visualization capabilities to create a tribute to a company they greatly admire on the occasion of the iPad release. The idea was to show a glimpse into the history of this product giant by modeling some of the innovative products they’ve developed in their 3+ decade history.” Transparent House

The whole thing was created in 3Ds Max and V-Ray render, and took around 10 days to complete.  Along the way there’s the Newton, the original iPhone and the new iPad, along with a few other favorites.

Ironically, Transparent House’s site is all created in Flash, and so you wouldn’t actually be able to visit it on an iPad.  Saying that, Flash is a daily crash-fest on my MBP, so maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

palm-sinking-ship

Speculation is running rampant about the future of Palm after it lowered its guidance last week with analysts, pundits and bloggers alike offering up advice to the struggling company. One of the more unusual suggestions has Palm partnering up with Sprint to release a WiMAX handset, noting that the manufacturer and the carrier have had a close relationship in the past and the market for a WiMAX handset is brand new and wide open. Some analysts dismiss this idea, claiming that Palm would not risk its future on an untested and relatively niche market, and they point towards updated 3G hardware with a larger touchscreen and distribution on a major carrier like AT&T as Palm’s saving grace. The Wall Street Journal even chimed in with its “people familiar with the situation” reiterating the claim that Palm will release a webOS device on AT&T in the next few months and projecting that Palm has new hardware on tap for later this year. In the end, Palm has one or two final high stakes hands to play and let’s hope it has enough cash in the bank to be able to ante up what it needs to stay in the game.

God of War III director Stig Asmussen initially wanted to cut the topless ladies from the game. They need to have a purpose, Asmussen though, that was other than eye candy.

“It was more a debate between me and several of the story writers,” Asmussen told website UGO. “I was like, ‘I’d rather not have it in there at all.’”

What is the point? Asmussen wondered. If they were going to keep the nude mini-game in, they had to serve a point. In the past, the scenes were used to establish Kratos as a “man’s man” who got what he wanted. Feeling that they would be damned if they did and damned if they didn’t, Asmussen decided they would add the scenes, but give them thrust.

“We make it more than it’s been in the past, but we also give it more of a purpose,” said Asmussen. “It’s not just you going in there, finding some corner and having sex with somebody. It’s something that guides you through the story. You get information and more than just a fluff moment.”

The mini-game apparently involves Kratos, “a goddess and a couple other people”.

It’s not everyday that White Castle owner David Rife visits one of the company’s locations, much less as an undercover worker. Aspiring restaurant owner / employee Jose Gonzales was gifted with a ,000 college scholarship and a culinary tour of Chicago to make his dreams come true. Video after the break.

“I was really stressing out about college before White Castle came in and did everything,” he told Martinez. “A big weight has been lifted off my head.”

No matter how hard you love to work, everybody needs some leisure time away from reports, documents and numbers. And since you like spending so much time in front of the computer, why not try playing some of the coolest games which we are about to suggest.

Certainly, the most popular and the coolest game ever made is Grand Theft Auto 4, as it is one of the most expected game of the year 2009. Grand Theft Auto 4 puts you in the shoes of Niko Belli, a Russian immigrant who came to America called by his cousin. In this game you can do anything you want. Starting from a quiet walk visiting the city and even up to stealing cars, killing people, selling or buying narcotics and committing robberies, this is really the game of endless possibilities. But for such an amazing game, you will need a great performance PC, so if your PC is not very powerful, you will not be able to play it. The game has the following recommended requirements: an Intel Core 2 Duo Quad 2.4 GHz / AMD Phenom X3 2.1 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM memory for Windows XP / 2.5 GB of RAM memory for Windows Vista, a 512 MB nVidia 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870 graphics card and 18 GB of free space on your hard  disk.

If you are a shooter game fan, one of the coolest games for you is the Left 4 Dead. For this game, Valve has invested million only in advertising and all this publicity that surrounded the game has sold 2.5 million copies. In this game you will need to kill as many zombies as you can. The requirement settings are not that high like on the Grand Theft Auto 4. In order to play this game you need to have the following PC configuration: an Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz / Dual Core 2.0 GHz/ AMD 64 X2 processor, 1 GB of RAM memory for Windows XP / 2 GB of RAM memory for Windows Vista, an ATI 9600 / nVidia 6600 (or higher) graphics card and at least 7.5 GB of free space.

For people who like racing games, we recommend Need for Speed Undercover. EA Games Company has struck gold with the Sims Series of games but they also promises that Need for Speed Undercover promises to be very interactive. Like all Need for Speed games, here you must participate at illegal street races and you are allowed to customize cars how you want.  For a racing simulator, the Need for Speed Undercover has accessible requirement settings. To be able to play this game you need to have an Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD 64 X2 5200+ or AMD Phenom processor, 2 GB of RAM memory for Windows XP and 3 GB of RAM memory for Windows Vista, a 512 MB graphics card which supports  Pixel Shader 3.0 and 10 GB of free space.

Since there are new and cool games released on the market every day, you must constantly upgrade your key components inside your unit so you can be able to play the top of the line coolest games.

It’s tough going being a standalone PND manufacturer these days: you can either refine your GPS devices to suit extreme niches or try to incorporate some extra functionality and jump on board the MID bandwagon.  Mio have obviously decided to take the latter route with the Moov V780, a 7-inch WVGA touchscreen slate which goes so far outside of the company’s PND realm that the GPS chipset is actually optional.

mio moov v780 1 540x345

That’s because Mio are definitely looking at MID functionality to save them; the Moov V780 has a capacitive touchscreen, WiFi WiFi b/g and optional 3.5G and WiMAX connectivity, together with a mini USB 2.0 port and MicroSD reader.  It also has an external TV antenna input, for use with the optional DVB-T, TDMB or 1-Seg tuner.

Onboard storage is between 4Gb and 8GB, and there’s a 600MHz processor (type unknown) and 512MB of RAM; apparently that’s good enough for outputting HD video.  Mio will also offer you a snap-on QWERTY keyboard accessory, along with the usual in-car mounts, and you can use their Mio Spirit route guidance system just as you would on a dedicated PND.

OS is Windows CE 6.0 with Mio’s 3D UI sitting on top, and there’s a full run-down of specs and supported media codecs in the gallery below.  No word on pricing; hopefully we’ll find that out when the Moov V780 officially launches at CeBIT 2010 this week.

lg-windows-phone-7-prototype

Rumors that LG is prepping one of the first Windows Phone 7 Series handsets have been bouncing around for well over a month now, so it is not surprising that Microsoft unveiled a pre-production prototype of a Windows Phone 7 Series handset from the Korean manufacturer recently. The hardware itself was rather bland, sporting a side slide QWERTY keyboard and a standard front face with an average-sized touchscreen and the three hard buttons required by the reference design. Let’s hope LG has additional Windows 7 Phone Series handsets under development that have a bit more “wow” factor as it would be a crying shame to have the latest OS on such unoriginal hardware.
